Review Mode

Review Mode lets you read a node and everything beneath it as one seamless, read-only document. Where the Editor shows a single node's prose at a time, Review Mode stitches a chapter together with all of its scenes (and their children) so you can read it the way a reader would.

Opening Review Mode

Right-click a node in the Outline tree and choose Review from the context menu. The node's content and all of its descendants are assembled into a continuous document, with child headings included so you can see where each piece begins.

What you can do in Review Mode

  • Read straight through: no per-node clicking; the whole subtree flows as one.
  • Add comments: select any passage and leave a note, exactly as in the Editor. This makes Review Mode ideal for revision passes over a full chapter.
  • Run Readability Analysis: score the entire assembled document (node + all children), not just one scene.
  • Find within the assembled document, look up a character/world/plot/glossary entry, or open the Node Structure panel to jump between headings, all from the same right-hand action bar the Editor uses.
  • Jump to the top or bottom of the document with the toolbar buttons.

Why use it

Writing scene-by-scene is convenient, but stories are read chapter-by-chapter. Review Mode closes that gap: it's where you check flow, pacing, and continuity across scene boundaries, catch repetition, and annotate what needs another pass, all without editing the underlying nodes.

Review Mode is read-only by design; make your edits back in the Editor on the individual nodes.
